California Fail

Third world countries go bankrupt all the time and no one seems to notice. Countries like Zimbabwe and Venezuela are on downward spirals and hardly anyone takes notice. Cuba has been in terminal poverty for years but people still crow about their free health care.

It’s as if it could never happen here in the good old USA. Yet it is happening here. A couple of good articles on the financial mess in California are here and here.

  1. I have spent some time in San Diego recently and also in Northern Baja. Big difference. We still have a way to go.

I’m not saying it can’t happen but it will take awhile.

So Cal is pretty international now. We may start using things like foreign money, reefer, dehydrated ramen cups and Disneyland tickets as a medium of exchange. I’d be okay with that.
