Note to Democrats

Continue bashing Sarah Palin at your own political risk.

  1. What risks are there in bashing Sarah Palin? I don’t see any. It can’t make her base any madder than it already is. It can’t make them be more critical of the Left than they already are. It can’t push more people into her camp than are already there. It can’t make her seem like more of an outsider than she already does.

It’s a no lose situation. Alaska is the biggest welfare state in America and she calls herself a rugged individualist pioneer. She shipped her kid off to the army because he was a drug using delinquent and then calls herself a proud, patriotic military mom. Her parents, husband and children don’t claim to be in the least religious but she wraps herself in fundamentalist evangelism. She spent 18 months as the Governor of her State, most of it outside the State and calls herself the most qualified candidate for high executive office. She claims to be living a life of service to the country while using her fame and following to pile up huge personal wealth. That makes a huge target on her back.

I don’t say she is alone among politicians, on either side, in doing any of these things but there is nothing commendable either.

I take the long view. If America wants to elect her President, it will be a good lesson for America in the long run. We’ll end up with a wiser and more secular voter base.

  2. You’re speaking of Palin or Obama? Ha ha.

I think a lot of women who voted for Obama in 2008 would vote for Palin in 2012.

Either way, I like Michele Bachmann more than any of the potential candidates.
